Rice Cultivation under Drip Irrigation with Plastic Film Mulch in the Kanto Area of Japan

A drip irrigation system with plastic mulch film was evaluated in terms of growth, yield, and water productivity (WP) using three leading paddy rice cultivars (Japonica) the Kanto area Japan. cultivation upland field (DI) continuous flooding a (CF) were conducted 2015 2016 (DI CF). The amounts total supply (irrigation precipitation) 715 mm, 599 905 mm 1620 1379 1687 for DI 2015, 2016, CF respectively. percentages compared to those 79% 66%, grain yields higher than DI. showed significantly lower CF, representing 74% 85% which attributed leaf indexes There no significant difference WP between years among cultivars, ranging from 0.25 0.30 kg m-3, showing an offset reduction by under large water-saving effect, physiological damage due stress slight yield that field.
